February - The Center for Fiction
For the month of February, 10% of proceeds from our online Bookstore will support The Center for Fiction, an organization dedicated to writing and reading.

Founded in 1820 as the Mercantile Library, it welcomed Mark Twain, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Edgar Allan Poe. The Mercantile Library was renamed The Center for Fiction in 2008, but its founding principle has not changed: With access to the best of literature, everyone is able to find a path to possibility and opportunity.
The Center for Fiction’s recent move to its vibrant new home in Brooklyn has opened up worlds, providing significant expansion of educational and cultural programming.
Through public events, writing workshops, reading groups, educational programs for children, our historic library, fellowships, awards, and more we support the creation and enjoyment of fiction, not only on the page but on the stage and screen as well, in a collaborative and creative environment that will assure a strong future for storytelling in all its forms across boundaries of identity and experience.
